 Essential Job Functions:
To do the job satisfactorily, the employee must fulfill the functions below. Job Standards: The following indicators are Minimum Acceptable Standards for each of the essential job functions and must be attained and maintained for the employee to satisfactorily meet the requirements of the job.

Sell, distribute and maintain physical inventory:  Check invoices against stock received as instructed by Parts Manager. Maintain customer order file. Advise customer and Service Advisor on receipt of ordered part. Tag and shelve warranty parts to be held for scrapping. Complete order card from repair order, return repair order to Service Advisor. Provide Service Advisor a copy of the order card when the part is delivered, distribute other copies according to department guidelines. Process parts billing on completed orders. Assist with annual inventory as instructed and when needed. Assure proper storage of all received parts. Handle all needed follow through of special ordered parts. Become knowledgeable of parts automation requirements as requested.


Greet customers promptly and courteously and demonstrate professional personal behavior: Handle internal and external customer requests promptly and make sure of proper parts selection. Recommend related parts while customer is at counter as appropriate. Handle telephone orders promptly and courteously, by third ring if possible. Dress in a manner and conduct self in a manner that will bring credit to the dealership and is befitting to customer contact requirements. Be friendly without becoming familiar. Be positive in attitude and use a helpful manner.


Assist with shipping and receiving: Be able to direct incoming and outgoing freight to their appropriate destination. Package for shipment any outgoing freight with a focus on damage prevention, including attention to signs of potential damages such as crushed cartons, indented areas. Properly store all incoming freight. Inspect all incoming freight for quality and note any discrepancies pertaining to quality and/or quantity. Perform an out-of-carton inspection of all incoming and outgoing sheet metal and glass. Properly communicate and document problems with carrier and initiate appropriate claims process. Receipt parts in computer and add final freight charges and any late receipted parts to invoices prior to shipping.

Assist in departmental maintenance: Maintain a neat and clean work area. Help maintain parts stock in an orderly condition. Update catalogues and bulletins as needed. Assign tasks, as appropriate, to parts runners, drivers, etc. Update bin labels as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Summary: The Parts Counterperson is responsible for the sale of needed parts to technicians and all Parts Department customers.


Physical and Mental Requirements: The job requires the use of computers, computer software, telephone, standing and walking for long periods of time, changing of position frequently, pushing/pulling, bending/squatting, reaching/handling, twisting, and climbing ladders and stairs The position requires the ability to lift 25-30 pounds frequently and up to 60 pounds infrequently.
In addition, the position requires a good knowledge of parts, sales ability, and the patience and capacity to look up and find the correct parts. The job requires the ability to read, write, and communicate in English, use numerical and alphabetical systems, follow directions, accurately complete documents, and understand orders. (S)he should contribute to a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so (s)he works well with customers, co-workers and management. S/he must be willing and able to professionally and positively assist both customers and company personnel. In addition, this position requires the ability to multi-task, follow direction, be open to change, to work under effectively pressure, and to positively diffuse customers and employees who may be angry, frustrated or otherwise difficult to communicate with. This is a key position in the company and as such regular consistent attendance is a necessity.
