Job Title: Production Support Technician - Animation

Job Description: Insomniac Games is looking for a candidate to assist the animation team with bugs, batching mocap, and being an all-around support resource for the team. This Production Support Technician will test and support multiple aspects of the hardware and software systems used by the development and production functions of animation in the development of games. This role creates, modifies, and implements assets for gameplay and story cinematics, and is responsible for minor scripting tasks. Read on if this sounds intriguing:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

• Possess trouble shooting skills in a technical environment.
• Able to identify and articulate problems within assigned software products. (Plays, tests, debugs and implements)
• Assist in the preparation and implementation of animation assets, so they may be added to function as intended in the game.
• Ensure that animations are appearing and responding as intended by the use of technical processes, systems, and software.
• Ability to communicate with Animators, Modelers, Designers, and Engineers, and respond to requests from various departments
• Place audio lines to match animation in proprietary software.
• Fraps Captures for review- i.e. make movies of gameplay
• Receive and batch mocap data for body and face animation.
• Help QA with testing or other duties as necessary
• Other duties may be assigned

Education and/or Experience:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and a basic understanding of production related programs such as Maya and a willingness to learn and use proprietary tools and procedures. Experience with a game engine like Unreal would be very useful.
• Ability to create and maintain shared documents regarding task procedures (aka the Wiki).

Other Skills: Must possess a clear understanding of and knowledge of the development cycle; understanding bug priorities, ability to detect problem areas, and possess a strong attention to detail. Must have the ability to build and maintain close rapport with other departments and remain flexible and ready to change priorities in an instant. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to correctly create and prioritize tasks.
